There will be a new process in the selection of Fianna Fail candidates to run in local elections whereby candidates must go through an interview process.

The identity of the interview board members is unknown but speculation is rife that they will not be from the local region but from Dublin.

The selection convention which was previously in place was a system where candidates were elected by their peers.
